Young British people born between 1 January 2001 and 31 December 2003 can apply for a free rail subscription offered by the European Commission as part of the latter’s DiscoverEU initiative.

This is the very last time Britons aged 18 to 20 will be able to apply for such a pass due to Brexit, reports SchengenVisaInfo.com.

Under the terms of the UK’s withdrawal agreement from the European Union, UK citizens are eligible to participate in the 2021 cycle, as they were eligible for cycles canceled in 2020 whose budget was shifted to 2021.», Explains the European Youth Portal on this subject.

The portal points out that since the UK left the EU bloc on January 31, 2020, young UK people will no longer be eligible to apply to DiscoverEU in subsequent years.

On October 12, SchengenVisaInfo.com announced that the European Commission will offer 60,000 free rail tickets to Europeans between the ages of 18 and 20, with applications opening the same day and closing on October 26.

Announcing the opening of the application period, EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel, said it was a chance for 60,000 young people across the EU to “discover the richness of our continent. “

In the spirit of the Commission designating 2022 as the European Year of Youth, DiscoverEU is back, bigger than ever, with new opportunities for young people to take a train, to broaden their horizons, to extend their learning , to enrich their experiences and to meet other Europeans while traveling. by rail from March 2022», Declared the commissioner.

Beneficiaries will be able to travel across Europe for up to 30 days from March 2022, which is the European Year of Youth, to February 2023.

Normally only 18 year olds are allowed to apply. However, as last year’s cycle was postponed due to COVID-19, this year 19 and 20 year olds were also allowed to apply.

Applicants can also apply in groups of five, but a group leader must be appointed and the other four members must apply with their application code.

There is a quota for each EU member state, as well as for the UK, which will be published along with the selection results. In the event that there are fewer candidates for certain countries than the allocated tickets provided, the remaining tickets will be distributed among the countries where there are more participants than the quota.

PayiQ partners with Perille.fi to provide ticketing service http://laohra.org/payiq-partners-with-perille-fi-to-provide-ticketing-service/ Thu, 14 Oct 2021 15:34:52 +0000 http://laohra.org/payiq-partners-with-perille-fi-to-provide-ticketing-service/

The account-based ticketing platform PayiQ has partnered up with the Finnish travel ticket service Perille.fi to enable customers to compare prices, view timetables and purchase tickets in one. only mobile application.

The first step of the collaboration will see Perille sell train and bus tickets through the PayiQ Tickets mobile app.

PayiQ’s public transport mobile app is already in use in around 20 Finnish cities. The PayiQ Tickets app allows users to purchase tickets from all of PayiQ’s partners, without having to download a separate app for each city. The addition of the Perille service saves customers time by helping them find a suitable route and allowing them to easily purchase tickets.

The Perille service will also include cross-border trips with bus connections between Helsinki, Finland, and St. Petersburg, Russia, available this fall. Thanks to the combination of the two services, passengers can buy all the tickets they need through a single application. A trip between Turku, Finland, and St. Petersburg, would include a Föli local bus ticket, a VR train ticket to Helsinki, and a Lux Express bus ticket to St. Petersburg.

“Perille is very excited about this cooperation with PayiQ,” said Vesa Heikkinen, CEO of Perille Mobility Services. “Perille’s comprehensive range of long-distance travel and bus and train ticket travel chains, combined with PayiQ’s existing customer base and the wide range of local traffic tickets, will bring together almost all Finnish public transport into one only application. We believe our combined service will be particularly attractive to large public transport consumers who have sporadic long-distance travel needs, but do not wish to download another app or sign up for another service.

Pirkka Lankinen, CEO of PayiQ, said: “We are happy to have Perille.fi long distance travel tickets at our service. We already have a wide range of local traffic tickets for several cities and now you can also buy intercity trips with the same app. PayiQ’s mission has also been to provide ticketing solutions for the entire travel chain and this cooperation brings us closer to our goal.
